Turtlejoy finally stopped where Strikepaw's sent stopped. She was in the thick tall grass near the Small pond. She looked around trying to find her apprentice. She saw him crouched down at the edge of the pond lapping up the water which made little ripples coming outward from the base of what made the waves. She took one step and heard Strikepaw say something.
" I know your out there Turtlejoy. I feel your presence." Strikepaw mewed to the air as he paused.
" Look Strikepaw what I said back there I didn't mean it like that. I just meant well you know. Anyway if you hate me I'll understand and I just want to tell you I'm sorry and when we get back to camp I'll tell Silentstar that I'm not ready for an apprentice." Turtlejoy mewed as she walked up to sit next to him.
" I know what you meant it's just that it's hard for me to cope with it and no one understands what I'm going through. Who knows what I'm going to be like when I'm a warrior. I might not even become a warrior. I'm lucky I've gotten this far ,but can I really pull it off? I mean all my life I've been protected when I wasn't born I was protected by the fur of my mother, when I was a kit my mother wouldn't let me go out of the den and she would probably kill anyone who touched me except for her, my dad, and the medicine cat. Now that I'm an apprentice I don't have a sheild and I'm glad about that ,but yet I'm vulnrable. I won't know if a eagle is coming. I can only sence stuff that are on the ground but not in the air. I have so many things that can easly get me.
" And I don't want you to quit you're a great cat and I know that you'll be a good mentor. This is new for both of us not just you. I've never been an apprentice before I've only done it for about a day or so."
" Thanks Strikepaw." Turtlejoy mewed to the deaf apprentice.
" And your not alone...-"
" Oh ya! Who else is deaf in both ears and starting to go blind in one eye."
" Your going blind in one eye? I didn't know that. Anyway I haven't told anyone this only the medicine cat knows this not even my parents don't ,but I'm deaf in one ear. I know what it's like I don't know how to handle it and I can't imagine it for you with both ears."
" Why did you tell me you were deaf in one ear?" Strikepaw chuckled.
" Haha! Don't change the subject."
" Look I know your trying to cheer me up ,but I don't know how long I'll be alive."
" Nobody knows you mouse brain! The only thing that you can do is try to have fun now! Don't think about tomorrow or yesterday focuss on today right now. That's the only thing that you can do."
" Thanks Turtlejoy."
" No problem. Come on I'll race you to the camp."
" Your on!" The two friends raced to the camp there hind legs floating on air as they barely touched the surface. Picking up speed the cats lowered themselves closer to the ground and kicking up patches of dirt.
